Many of us will remember October 1, 2006 as a very special day. Over 200
people attended the groundbreaking ceremony at River Club. We sang two
hymns, the praise team provided music, Randolph Skinner read scripture,
Myrtle Campbell talked about the history of Fairview, and Russ Wiss spoke
about the future. Included in those who were in attendance were Mike Jones -
President of Tricord, Don Leake of GLMG Construction, James Koleszar - our
architect, Ron Hicks - our attorney, Steve Aycock - Director of the
Fredericksburg Baptist Association, and Dee Whitten, representing the
Baptist General Association of Virginia.
The hightlights of the ceremony
were representatives of children's Sunday school classes, young adults,
senior adults, church leaders and others breaking ground with shovels, and
numerous church members inscribing scripture verses on 112 stakes which they
pounded in the ground, symbolically surrounding our property with God's
Word.
