At Fairview Baptist music is a ministry! Our philosophy is found in Psalm 33:3, “Sing to the Lord a new song; play skillfully with a sound of joy.” This verse indicates that worship music should be presented with renewed enthusiasm, excellent quality, and in a spirit of Joy! We serve the King of Kings, and we seek to bring Him the best that we can with whatever we have available.
Our “Worship Choir” consists of 20 – 26 mixed voices singing a blend of traditional and contemporary choral anthems for the 11:00 worship services. Rehearsals are at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. This choir also presents annual Christmas and Easter cantatas. Both piano and organ are used to accompany enthusiastic congregational singing.
The “Fairview Praise Team” provides contemporary music for our 9:30 a.m. Sunday services.
The earliest of our services is at 8:15 a.m., and we offer a traditional hymn sing in an evangelistic style. There is also special music and the “Golden Jubilee Choir”, which rehearses Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
A small orchestra sometimes accompanies our 11:00 service, and we also use a variety of soloists, duets and small ensembles, both vocal and instrumental.
“Ringers for the King” is the name of our handbell choir, which rehearses on Mondays at 7:30 p.m.
Childrens’ music opportunities include a “Tiny Tots” pre-school group and “Kids’ Praise”, consisting of ages eight to twelve. These groups rehearse on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Fairview also has a drama department called “Inner-Mission”, which provides periodical short skits and seasonal drama as needed.
We are delighted to welcome new musicians to Fairview and are always on the lookout for people who want to use their skills and talents to praise and glorify our Lord in this ministry. |
